Happy new year everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and sorry the blogs been a bit neglected over the holiday season, I got slightly carried away with the festivities spending lots of time with my loved ones and eating my body weight in chocolate, cheese and mince pies! But we’re back with a new recipe to kick off 2019 and it’s something i’ll definitely be making all year round.
I know a lot of people head into the new year planning to be healthier and eat clean but if, like me, you struggle to let go of all the sugary goodness that the season brings, then I have the perfect recipe for you. It may taste like a treat but my banana bread is actually healthier than a lot i’ve seen with less sugar and 50/50 flour. I’ve also added some spices to my recipe because Christmas may be over but honestly cinnamon is for life, not just the holidays.
| Quick Tip – The riper the bananas, the better. Not only are they easier to mash, but they also make the bread taste sweeter without all the added sugar |
What’s great about banana bread is that its so versatile. It can be eaten for breakfast, as a snack, toasted, plain, with butter, with extra banana chopped on top – basically anything goes! Personally, I like it sliced with a generous helping of cinnamon butter. This may completely ruin the healthy aspect, but it’s so yummy I can’t resist. So here’s a simple cinnamon butter recipe in case you want to try the same:
I hope you enjoy and as always, let me know if you do try it out!
